God is moving around the world, and today Bible translation is accelerating like it never has before. Our desire is to follow where God is leading and partner with the local church in sustainable, church-led Bible translation programs that lead to transformation in their communities.

We don’t do missions on our own, and we don’t go into situations as experts with all the answers. We work in humble, collaborative teams that value diversity and are dedicated to making sure everyone feels heard, included and knows they belong.

One of our key values is loving people. Wycliffe staff work around the world — from small villages to big cities — in hybrid, in-person and fully remote environments. Most Wycliffe missionaries receive a non-traditional salary. It comes from the gifts given in preference for their ministry by a team of financial partners that includes friends, family, churches and other groups. We call this “partnership development,” and we provide extensive training and resources as you build your financial and prayer partnership team.

Non-traditional salaries are needs-based, determined by factors of housing and personal expenses based on geographic location, dependents and their ages, retirement savings, ministry expenses and taxes. Although salaries vary significantly and it’s not possible to provide an exact number, a typical non-traditional salary for a missionary household is $42,600 to $80,982 annually. These salaries do not include your partnership-raised funds for health insurance, worker’s compensation insurance or Wycliffe assessment.

We know that moving from a traditional salary to a faith-based partnership team can be stressful and overwhelming. But you’re not alone! We want to come alongside you in this journey and help equip and encourage you as you see God do amazing things.

A “member” is a Wycliffe staff person whose salary comes from partnership development, or gifts given in preference for their ministry by a team of financial partners that includes friends, family, churches and other groups. This is what some people think of as the traditional “missionary.”

• You should agree to Wycliffe’s mission, vision, beliefs and values.
• You should be actively involved in and connected to your local church.
• You should be able to share your testimony of faith in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior.
• You should agree to partnership development (raising a team of financial and prayer partners).

We have many roles that don’t require learning a second language or having biblical training before you join. For other roles, you’ll learn those things on the job.
