The world is full of needs — some visible, others hidden. It doesn’t take long to feel overwhelmed by global headlines or heartbreak shared across social media. And in a busy, nonstop culture, it’s easy to wonder: “How can one person really make a difference?”
One answer is simple, yet powerful: prayer.
Prayer doesn’t require hours of free time, a passport or a perfect setting. It can be woven into the rhythms of everyday life, helping you become more aware of global issues and make an eternal impact in the ordinary moments of your typical day.
Here’s how you can make your 9-to-5 routine — no matter how busy your schedule is — more meaningful by intentionally praying for Bible translation efforts and people around the world.
Morning Mirror Time: 30 Seconds-2 Minutes
The day begins. Maybe you’re still half-asleep while brushing your teeth or mentally reviewing your to-do list. But even in this small pocket of time, you can start your day with purpose.
Try this: Stick a prayer on your bathroom mirror or save a reminder in your phone’s morning alarm. Let it prompt you to lift up people in need around the world as your day begins.
Prayer Prompt:
Lord, thank You for the privilege of praying for others. I lift up the men, women and children around the world who are suffering. For everyone who feels burdened — by poverty, loneliness, conflicts or isolation — ease their pain. Draw them to You and to the hope that can only be found in Your Son, Jesus. Amen.
Rejoice in our confident hope. Be patient in trouble, and keep on praying. — Romans 12:12 (NLT)
Commute or School Drop-Off: 15-30 Minutes
The daily commute can often feel repetitive or unproductive, whether you’re stuck in traffic, on a bike path or walking the same familiar streets. Instead of letting that time slip by unnoticed, consider using it to intercede for different regions of the world.

Try this: Assign a region of the world to each weekday, and pray specifically for the people and challenges in those areas. You could also keep a visual reminder like a small globe keychain, a bookmark with a map or a notecard in your car or bag.
Prayer Prompt:
- In Africa, pray that people will have access to education, clean water and community development.
- In the Americas, lift up those affected by poverty, conflict and natural disasters.
- In Asia, ask God to bring peace in places where there’s religious and political unrest, and pray for safety in areas vulnerable to earthquakes, typhoons and tsunamis.
- In Europe, intercede for immigrant communities navigating displacement and cultural transition.
- In the Pacific, pray for young people, education and health in remote or disaster-prone areas.
O nations of the world, recognize the LORD, recognize that the LORD is glorious and strong. — 1 Chronicles 16:28 (NLT)
Lunch Break: 30-60 Minutes
Lunch breaks provide a natural pause in the day — whether it’s sitting at a desk with leftovers, eating outside or grabbing something on the go. It’s a chance to slow down, refocus and reconnect.
As you eat, consider the abundance that surrounds you, including access to Scripture. You likely own at least one Bible in a language and format that’s easy to understand. Perhaps it’s tucked into a bag, sitting on your bookshelf or downloaded on your phone. You may even have several versions available at your fingertips — study Bibles, devotionals, audio options and apps.

But around the world, that kind of access is still out of reach for millions of individuals. Today there are at least 7,300 languages spoken or signed globally. Many of those languages don’t have a single verse of Scripture yet.
In 1999, Wycliffe USA made a bold decision to adopt a God-sized vision: to have a translation program in progress in every language still needing one by the year 2025. We knew this wasn’t possible without God doing abundantly more than we could ask or imagine — and He is!
Today God is raising up local churches to take the lead in Bible translation for their own communities, countries and even entire regions, accelerating the pace like never before.
Try this: Spend a few minutes of your lunch break praying through our Vision 2025 progress map. It highlights the countries with people groups still waiting for Bible translation work to begin, giving you a focused way to lift them up in prayer. You could even place a sticky note with a Bible verse or a country from the map on your lunch container or desk to keep the place and its people in your prayers throughout the week.
Prayer Prompt:
God, thank You for the ease with which I can access Your Word. I pray for people in every nation who are still waiting to experience the Bible in a language and format they clearly understand. Strengthen the local churches and leaders who are stepping up to make this a reality. Help this work move forward in unity, perseverance and faith. Amen.
For the word of God is alive and powerful. — Hebrews 4:12a (NLT)
Afternoon Break: 3-5 Minutes
Whether it’s a trip to the breakroom, a quick walk or simply stretching away from the computer, most people take a few minutes in the afternoon to rest their eyes or reset their minds. That small break can also be a powerful opportunity to pray for the people behind Bible translation efforts.
Try this: Set a daily phone or calendar reminder to pray for a country or people group still waiting for Bible translation, or a missionary you know. Let the reminder prompt you to pause during your afternoon break and spend a few moments in prayer.
Prayer Prompt:
Lord, I pray for the translators, local church leaders and missionary teams working faithfully to bring Your Word to new communities. Fill them with wisdom, knowledge, patience, clarity and perseverance. I pray that they continue to draw close to You, even in the midst of trials or exhaustion. I pray for safety and health so that they can continue to do Your work. When hope seems dim, let them see Your light shine brightly so they’re reminded that You are our good Father. Amen.
So we have not stopped praying for you since we first heard about you. We ask God to give you complete knowledge of his will and to give you spiritual wisdom and understanding. — Colossians 1:9 (NLT)
Dinner Prep: 15-30 Minutes
Preparing dinner often involves multiple steps — chopping vegetables, waiting for water to boil or reading recipe instructions. During these in-between moments, it’s possible to turn your focus toward people who are still waiting for something much more vital than a meal: the ability to access and understand Scripture.
Try this: Write out a short prayer and tape it inside a cabinet door or recipe book. Let it serve as a quiet invitation to pause and pray while you prepare food.
Prayer Prompt:
God, thank You for the incredible progress that You have made in Bible translation. I pray for the communities that have not yet received even a portion of Scripture in a language they understand. Stir in them a longing for Your Word. Inspire and equip leaders to begin translation work, and unite communities as they experience Your truth together. May the Bible translation process bring transformation and deeper faith to many communities. Amen.
You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it, so that the Son can bring glory to the Father. Yes, ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it! — John 14:13-14 (NLT)
Before Bed: 1-2 Minutes
As the day winds down, maybe you like to curl up on the couch with a book or scroll through social media. The quiet of the evening offers one more chance for you to reflect and pray.

To make this big world feel just a little bit smaller, think about the personal connections you have to places and people across the globe. Maybe you’ll reflect on the country where your family is from, a favorite vacation spot or a place where a friend lives. Or perhaps there’s a region of the world you’ve always been interested in or a country you keep hearing about in the news.
Try this: Keep a world map, globe or list of countries by your bedside. Choose a different country each night to lift up in prayer, and ask God to move in that region through Bible translation.
No matter what God puts on your heart, consider using these points to guide your bedtime prayers:
- Pray that more communities would value Scripture and recognize God’s love for their language and culture.
- Ask God to raise up local translators and support teams from within those communities.
- Lift up those still waiting for access to the Bible.
- Pray for boldness and unity among churches, and that they would be committed to seeing Bible translation completed.
- Ask God for His Word to create a lasting impact in people’s lives and that they would engage with new Scripture translations.
After this I saw a vast crowd, too great to count, from every nation and tribe and people and language, standing in front of the throne and before the Lamb. — Revelation 7:9a (NLT)
Every Prayer Matters
It’s easy to get wrapped up in the chaos and mess of our daily schedules. Commitments pile up and our stress levels can increase with every hour. But we can pray anywhere at any time — and your prayers matter! James 5:16b reminds us that “the earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results” (NLT).

Ultimately God changes people’s hearts through Bible translation. But we’re called to partner with Him in prayer. So as you rush through your day completing tasks and checking things off your list, bring meaning to your routine by praying for people around the world, communities and the life-transforming mission of Bible translation.
After all, every prayer matters!
